The Red Barn in the Woods

This is a barn that I originally took with my iPhone 5 with the camera app Fotor HDR. After transferring to my laptop, I opened it in Photoshop CS6 to resize to 11x14 at 200 dpi. I also do levels and saturation changes at this time.  Then I transferred to Corel Painter X3. I did several painted iterations, an initial paint, a muck-up paint, and an emerge paint. In addition to saving in the native Painter riff files, I also save them as jpegs so that I can work with them in Photoshop. I will typically bring all three iterations into Photoshop each with their own layer and play with blending modes, adjustment layers, color changes etc. in this particular image, I used Melissa  Gallo's canvas texture and masked out any unwanted areas and then added a Photoshop canvas texturizer in the filter gallery.

Barns, barns, barns!

Here are more photos taken with my iPhone and edited on my ipad, for the most part.  It seems there are so many barns that are in a state do disrepair. Sadly, it is a sign of the times. In their place are usually square structures made of aluminum. Pretty soon all the old beautiful barns will be gone.

I'm continuing with the Rural America theme, barns and churches mostly. The images were taken with either DLSR or the native iPhone camera. All the edits and paintings were done on the ipad.

The following are images from my recent road trip through North Dakoa, and my recent back road travels through Minnesota. All images were taken with an iPhone or my DSLR, uploaded to my ipad, and processed using many apps.

The Barn at Afton

I've been itching to paint a landscape and thought I'd go back to the images I took while down in St. Francisville.  This barn is situated on what is left of the Afton Plantation which is now a huge botanical garden.  I remember the day I took this photo...so hot and the humidity was so high.  They were also in a drought even though the flood gates had been opened on the levees, and miles and miles of land and homes were underwater.  Anyway, here is a painted version of the image.
